01 — Our history
The story: transparency as a product
1 On 1 Internet Marketing launched in 2001, when “local search” meant the phone book was dying and nobody agreed on what came next. From the beginning, one thing distinguished us: clients could always log into our system and monitor our services — what we did, and what the results were.
Our resources and tools evolved with the internet itself: directories rose and fell, Google ate the map, voice assistants appeared on kitchen counters. Through all of it we kept maintaining the software, directory relationships and APIs that professional listing management requires — so our clients didn’t have to.
In 2020 we rebuilt our client dashboard into a full command center where marketers manage every 1 On 1 tool for their own clients. The transparency promise from 2001 became the product itself.
Teachers first
We published one of the first local marketing courses, and we still believe an educated client is the best client. We’ve always taught businesses exactly how to grow online — then done the work for them.
